FAQs
We often get many questions from incoming clients and locals alike. This section was built to provide answers to the basic questions we get for fishing the lake. For the really good stuff, you might just need to book a trip!

IFO is proud to be able to provide any and all equipment needed for your trip to the lake. We understand that everyone has their prefered gear and welcome you to use your own if you wish. We recommend using a rod that is 6 weight and above with a weight forward floating line or a sinking line that ranges from 8-10 inches per second sink rate. Please do not bring a rod below a 5wt. If you hook into a large fish it will be a long very taxing fight and could potentially harm the fish.
If you are planning on using your own waders please be sure to have a wading belt and no large holes. the water gets very cold in the fall/winter and being wet all day will make for a hard day of fishing.
Fall/Winter/Early Spring
Nevada is high desert and is notorious for freezing nights and early mornings, turning into 65-70 degree days. the only good way to prepare for this is layering and having warm but breathable clothing. A good base layer will do wonders for the cold mornings and breath with you in the warm day time.
